Mounting Windows partitions in Ubuntu 9.10 prompts for the administrator password by default, which can be deactivated by following the steps given below:
1. Open the concerned file by typing in the terminal the following command.
varsha@varsha-laptop:~$ sudo gedit /usr/share/polkit-1/actions/org.freedesktop.devicekit.disks.policy
2. In the file, search for the line (most probably 34th):
3. Replace the above line with the following line:
4. Save and close the file.
Next time you mount the partitions, they would mount automatically without prompting for the password.
